filipino foodie post

I know I stopped posting my Filipino Foodie Friday posts awhile ago, but here's a collection of dishes I made in the last 2 weeks. I've been on a Filipino Food Frenzy lately because I love filipino food! It is one of my absolute favorite foods. Not being biased or anything. :P

Here we go.

Last week I made pork sinigang with lots and lots of veggies. Filipino is notoriously known for being extremely unhealthy, so I try my best to make it healthier! I add more veggies than is called for and try to cut the fat out of the meat I use. I don't have a picture of the sinigang because I was too hungry!

The next night, I made some chicken adobo. A classic filipino dish. I didn't use the recipe linked there, but another one from my friend. The thing about adobo is that every filipino makes it differently. It's hard to find ONE recipe that is similar. I used my friend's recipe with a little bit of my Lola's recipe.

And to start off my new week, I made TWO filipino dishes. One a main dish and the other a dessert/breakfast dish.

The first was chicken afritada. One of my favorite dishes that my Lola makes. I feel like since I'm such a newbie in the Filipino kitchen, I take FOREVER to cook things! I'm constantly looking at the recipe, making sure I'm doing it right. Also, cutting all the ingredients takes me longer too because it's all so new to me! For this recipe, I used my Lola's version, because to me, she's the BEST! SO if you see the recipe linked up there, I DID NOT add hot dogs! hahaa

And the next dish I made tonight is gintaang mais. It's like a dessert/breakfast/pudding type dish. Haha, can't really describe it. But it has coconut milk, sweet rice, and fresh corn. Yup, I cut the corn straight from the cob. I found this recipe from Pinterest and knew I wanted to try it. And it is SO easy to make with just 4 ingredients!

Making ginataang mais

I used this recipe from a filipino blogger who is part of this Kulinarya Cooking Club. And it was DELICIOUS!! I made enough to last me for a few breakfasts since I'm always on the go. I never have time in the morning to prepare a breakfast, so I usually stock up on instant breakfast foods at work. This week, I'll be having this stuff!

Final ginataang mais

So there are a few Filipino Foodie Friday posts to catch me up for a while. I'll be making nilaga later this week. :)
