give thanks day 30: Thanksgiving Day

It's the last day of November! But that doesn't mean being thankful stops here, I should be thankful on a daily basis. And I'm really trying to develop that spiritual habit of thanksgiving.

Day 30: I am thankful for YOU! :) No really, for those of you that read this: old friends, new friends, acquaintances, family, and even those who searched for 23 things to do for my 23rd birthday...I am thankful for YOU. Thank you for trying to stay up to date with my life and reading most of my boring posts about food, my family, and conan o'brien. :) I appreciate you!

Side note, that searching for 23 things isn't a joke. That's where I get the majority of hits...it's from people searching on google for 23 things to do! it's so interesting!

So here's the rest of my post on our Thanksgiving weekend.

I was actually sick for most of the holiday but that didn't stop me from eating! (When does anything stop me from eating?!?) And the food we had was seriously so delicious! My Kuya JP's girlfriend came down with him and she prepared one of her family's dishes for lunch and it was amaaazzzzing. We loved it so much, we had it for dinner too!

Bagna Caulda is a pretty serious dish too. Lots of steps, lots of preparation, and lots and lots of garlic. And the combinations are endless! We had lots of veggies, shrimp, chicken, cheese, and even strips of steak.

And because its cooked in a skillet pan in the middle of the table, it's a community type dish, which I loved! You put whatever you wanted in the pan, let it cook, and then ate it with a piece of french bread. The entire time we were eating, we kept saying that each bite was different from the last because we'd have a mushroom with cheese in one bite, then broccoli and chicken in another. We also kept throwing out suggestions on other foods we can throw in there and I think all of us said at one point that bacon would be perfect! :)

And the best part is when the cheese melted and went to the bottom and got all garlicy and buttery and crunchy! MmMm. So not healthy, but SO GOOD!

After lunch we were stuffed and ready for our naps. We all woke up just in time to do it all over again for dinner! So besides eating, we also spent time with each other and with the girls.

Can't forget this guy!

And as sick as I was, I still attempted the whole Black Friday thing at Ontario Mills at 1 am. Let me tell you, NEVER AGAIN. So not worth it! I would have been so completely happy and warm and comfy sleeping than out shopping with the crazies! I don't have any other pictures because, again, my camera died! Oy, plus, after black friday shopping, I pretty much spent the rest of the weekend in bed, sleeping off my cold.

But I was extremely thankful for my Thanksgiving and the chance to spend time with my Kuya JP and his girlfriend. He's been home more in the last year since he moved up to SacTown than when he was living in LA! So it's been nice getting to hang out with him and talk about life. I really do miss him a lot!

Anyway, I hope your Thanksgiving was awesome and that your November was too. Here's to Christmas and the end of the year! Woohoo!
